SUKKUR: The syndicate of Sukkur IBA has approved a wide range of academic, financial and policy measures at its 23rd meeting, aimed at strengthening institutional governance and academic standards. The meeting, held on 24 December, was opened by the vice-chancellor, who welcomed syndicate members, including newly selected participants.

The syndicate confirmed the minutes of its 22nd meeting held on 17 June 2025, a special meeting on 11 October 2025, and reviewed progress on decisions taken previously. It also ratified the minutes of the 19th and 20th meetings of the Academic Council held on 19 September and 28 November 2025.

On financial matters, the syndicate approved the minutes of the 12th meeting of the Finance and Planning Committee held on 6 December 2025, endorsed actual expenditures for the 2024–25 financial year, and cleared revised budget estimates for 2025–26, including for the Sukkur IBA University Ghotki campus. It also approved the annual professional internship policy and the terms of reference for a merit scholarship for top-performing candidates of the Direct Aptitude Test 2021.

The meeting approved several statutory and regulatory frameworks, including amended statutes on pay scales and service conditions for university employees, rules on efficiency and discipline, the Recruitment and Selection Rules 2025, and the Revised Research Policy 2025. The university’s Annual Report 2025 was also reviewed and approved.

In line with national guidelines, the syndicate adopted key Higher Education Commission policies, including the framework for the appointment of meritorious professors, guidelines for appointing professors of practice, and the revised 2025 policy on protection against harassment in higher education institutions.

It also approved the adoption of national policies on interfaith harmony and religious tolerance issued by the Ministry of Religious Affairs, underscoring the university’s commitment to inclusivity. An extension in the ad hoc period of university employees was also approved.

As part of additional decisions, the syndicate approved the nomination of Professor Dr Sher M. Daudpota, dean of the faculty of science and information technology, as a member of the Finance and Planning Committee, and recommended to the senate the appointment of Dr Saeed A.
