KARACHI: Security has been tightened across Karachi and other parts of Sindh to maintain law and order during New Year celebrations, with Pakistan Rangers appealing to the public for cooperation.
According to Rangers officials, biometric verification of suspected individuals is under way at city entry and exit points as well as interprovincial check posts, in an effort to prevent any untoward incidents and respond swiftly to potential threats.
A large contingent of Rangers personnel has been deployed for patrols and security duties in Karachi and across various districts of Sindh. Authorities have also imposed a complete ban on aerial firing and the public display of weapons. Strict legal action has been announced against those involved in reckless driving or violations of traffic laws.
Pakistan Rangers have urged citizens to work closely with law enforcement agencies and to immediately report any suspicious activity or incident. Information can be shared through the Rangers helpline at 1101 or via WhatsApp on 0347-9001111, either by call or message.
Members of the public have been asked to celebrate the New Year responsibly and help ensure a safe and peaceful environment by avoiding aerial firing, weapon display and dangerous driving. A Rangers spokesperson warned that any breach of the regulations would be met with immediate and firm legal action.
