DADU: Significant progress has been reported in the rehabilitation of flood-affected homes in Dadu district under the Sindh Peoples Housing for Flood Affected programme, with more than 132,000 houses fully reconstructed. Distribution of financial installments to affected families continues at pace, and a third-party audit of the project has been completed in full, officials say.
Deputy Commissioner Dadu Syed Murtaza Ali Shah expressed satisfaction over both the speed of construction and the provision of monetary assistance to victims. The report, presented by implementing partner Thardeep Rural Development Programme (TRDP), notes that over 164,000 houses were damaged in the district, with 31,000 partially affected. Reconstruction and installment distribution are actively underway across Dadu, Johi, Khairpur Nathan Shah, and Mehar talukas.
More than 117,000 families received the first installment, over 87,000 the second, and more than 67,000 families have collected the third. Foundations, lintels, and roofing stages for a large number of houses have been completed, showing visible progress on the ground.
In December 2025, authorities received 458 new survey applications and registered 767 complaints related to financial installments, while cases for 180 legal heirs of deceased flood victims are under process.
The completed third-party audit has confirmed transparency and accountability in implementing the housing project, ensuring flood-affected families continue to receive timely relief and reconstruction support.
