ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s engagement with the international Peace Board has caused a significant reaction in India, according to Senator Mashahid Hussain Syed. Speaking at a seminar titled “Black Day” organized by the Pakistan Institute for Parliamentary Service on India’s Republic Day, he said that India is uneasy over Pakistan’s inclusion in the board, which extends beyond Gaza-related issues.
Senator Syed highlighted that Kashmir and Palestine remain central to Pakistan’s foreign policy and noted that as a member of the United Nations Security Council in 2026, Pakistan will promote the Kashmir cause on the global stage. He criticized India’s ruling ideology, describing the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) as a fascist party and characterizing India as an ideological state guided by Hindutva.
Addressing the seminar, Hurriyat leader Altaf Ahmed Wani said Pakistan has emerged internationally as a peacemaker for the first time. He explained that the government’s decision was made with political, military, and bureaucratic consultation, stressing the need to seize opportunities on the global stage. Wani urged public and intellectual support for the decision, setting aside personal disagreements for national interest, and noted that “Pakistan is now at the table, not on the menu.”
He further emphasized that Kashmir remains the region’s most significant dispute, and rising international attention on the issue is causing concern in India. The seminar was also attended by Rana Qasim Noon, chairman of the Kashmir Committee, former Azad Kashmir Prime Minister Sardar Atiq, and other leaders.
