DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Dera Ismail Khan: Former Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sardar Ali Amin Gandapur visited the District Central Jail in Dera Ismail Khan to inaugurate two new buildings constructed at a cost of millions of rupees. The ceremony included ribbon-cutting and unveiling of commemorative plaques.
He was welcomed by Superintendent Jail Ejaz Mehsud, DIG Prisons Dera Range Tahir Shehbaz, Deputy Superintendent Zafarullah Marwat, and Tank MNA Dawar Khan Gandapur. During the visit, Gandapur inspected various jail sections, met prisoners, and reviewed the quality of food, cleanliness, medical facilities, and the condition of patients under treatment. He expressed satisfaction with the overall arrangements and praised the jail administration’s performance.
Addressing the gathering, Gandapur stressed that prisoners are part of society and the government has a responsibility to ensure their welfare, rehabilitation, and basic human facilities. He said the new buildings would expand the jail’s capacity and provide improved residential, medical, and other facilities for inmates.
He directed the Communication and Works Department to complete remaining construction urgently, ordered Rs. 500,000 worth of medicines for the jail hospital, and instructed repairs to the tube well to ensure uninterrupted water supply. Additionally, he announced the reconstruction of the dilapidated road in front of the jail to facilitate both administration and public access.
Gandapur concluded by reaffirming his commitment to practical measures for prison reforms and the welfare of inmates in the future.
