TANDO ALLAHYAR: The national anti-polio campaign, which began on 2 February 2026, was formally inaugurated in Tando Allahyar with children administered polio drops at the Civil Hospital.
Deputy Commissioner Noor Mustafa Laghari, along with SSP Syed Saleem Shah, opened the campaign by vaccinating children, while senior officials of the health department, including District Health Officer Dr Bharo Mal and polio focal person Dr Zulfiqar, were also present.
Speaking to the media, Laghari said polio was a dangerous disease and stressed that parents’ cooperation was essential for its complete eradication. He urged families to ensure that all children under the age of five received polio drops and appealed for full support to vaccination teams. He said health officials had been directed to make all necessary arrangements and to follow the micro-plan to ensure the campaign’s success, adding that eradicating polio was a national responsibility.
SSP Syed Saleem Shah said special police contingents had been deployed to provide security to polio teams so they could carry out their duties safely and without fear. He described polio eradication as a national duty and said the police were playing an active role in supporting the campaign. He also called on religious scholars to highlight the importance of polio vaccination during Friday sermons.
Later, an anti-polio awareness walk was held from the Civil Hospital to the Hyderabad–Mirpurkhas Road, led by the deputy commissioner and the SSP. Health and information department officials, polio workers, civil society representatives and local journalists took part in the walk.
