SUKKUR: A delegation from SMS Technologies | Pathfinder Group inspired students at Shah Abdul Latif University (SALU) with a career-focused seminar on Artificial Intelligence and Information Technology, officials said.
The session, held at the Students Society Center under the Faculty of Physical & Social Sciences, was led by CEO Iqbal Ahmed Butt and Director Corporate Affairs Syed Azfer Iqbal. It aimed to equip students with insights into emerging tech trends and their role in shaping future careers.
Vice Chancellor Dr Yousuf Khushk described the event as a crucial opportunity for students to connect academic learning with real-world demands. “Universities must prepare students not only with degrees but with skills relevant to industry and society,” he said.

Syed Azfer Iqbal urged students to use AI and technology constructively, leveraging platforms like LinkedIn for professional networking and pursuing online scholarships and entrepreneurial opportunities. CEO Iqbal Butt praised the students’ enthusiasm and pledged to establish an AI lab at SALU, dependent on space provision, to enhance skills and employability through public-private partnership.
The seminar highlighted practical advice on building problem-solving skills, technical expertise, and soft skills. Speakers stressed responsible use of AI as a tool for learning and efficiency, not shortcuts, and explored tech applications in local sectors like agriculture and education.
The delegation also visited a student project exhibition at the Institute of Physics, showcasing innovations including a solar turbine, sensor detector stick, object detection system, and gas and fire safety devices.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks from Professor Dr Noor Ahmed Shaikh, leaving students with a clear message: the right skills and proactive mindset can enable them to shape their own futures and contribute meaningfully to society.
Faculty members and a large number of students participated, including Professor Dr Liaquat Ali Chandio, Professor Dr Riaz Ahmed Shaikh, Professor Dr Hidayatullah Shaikh, Professor Dr Farman Mangi, Professor Dr Deedar Jamro and others.
