KARACHI: The grand finale of the city’s popular annual inter-school declamation contest took place at the historic Quaid-e-Azam House Museum on Thursday, organized by the Board of Management, Jinnah Society, and KCFR.
Thirty-four schools participated in the two-day elimination rounds, with ten advancing to the finale. The finalists included The City Intermediate College, DHACSS Phase-VIII, The Mama Parsi School, Habib Girls School, Agha Khan School Morning, Graceful Grammar Higher Secondary School Campus 1, New-Day School, Ida Rieu Blind & Deaf School, BVS Parsi School, and Al-Murtaza School.
The final judging panel comprised journalist Ghazi Sallahuddin, IVS founder Noorjehan Belgrami, and Jinnah Foundation founder Naseem Merchant. After a spirited competition, Syeda Fatima Zehra from The Mama Parsi School won first prize, Raween Abid from Agha Khan School Morning came second, and Tousif Ahmed from Ida Rieu Blind & Deaf School secured third place. Winners received trophies and grand prizes.
The contest, conceived by the Jinnah Society over two decades ago, is now organised under a tripartite arrangement with the Sindh Government and KCFR. A Board of Management of 18 members, including philanthropists, leading citizens, and government representatives, oversees the museum’s activities, with the Chief Minister and Chief Secretary of Sindh serving as ex-officio chairman and co-chairman.
The event aims to engage Pakistan’s youth with the history and ideals of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and to promote nation-building. By encouraging students to explore the country’s founding principles, the contest fosters awareness of Pakistan’s journey toward peace, prosperity, and progress, reflecting the aspirations of both Muhammad Iqbal and Quaid-e-Azam.
