KARACHI: A walk to mark Kashmir Solidarity Day was organised on February 5 from the Deputy Commissioner West Office under the leadership of Deputy Commissioner West Ali Zulfiqar Memon.
Speaking on the occasion, the deputy commissioner said the Pakistani nation was observing the day as a black day in unity against Indian atrocities in occupied Kashmir and was protesting collectively against the oppression being carried out by India. He said the bond between Pakistanis and Kashmiris was multi-dimensional and went beyond religion, culture and humanity, describing it as a bond of shared human blood. He said Pakistan would never leave the Kashmiri people alone.
The walk was organised to express solidarity with Kashmiri brothers against Indian atrocities in occupied Kashmir. A large number of officials from the district administration, the District Health Office and staff of the DC Office participated in the walk.
Ali Zulfiqar Memon said the international community must particularly recognise that Pakistan was a party to the Kashmir issue, a status acknowledged by the United Nations. He said Pakistan could not remain indifferent if oppression against people continued in Kashmir, and called for awakening the global conscience against Indian atrocities.
Addressing the participants, Assistant Commissioner Revenue Shagufta Ahmed said when nations became aware and united in this manner, their path could not be blocked. She said India now had no option but to accept defeat before the forces of history.
Mukhtiar Orangi Noor Zaman Jokhio said that as a nation, Pakistan stood with the Kashmiri people and had been supporting them for the past seven decades, adding that this support would continue.
At the conclusion of the walk, Assistant Commissioner Revenue District West Shagufta Ahmed thanked the participants. The walk started from the District West Office and concluded at Hino Pak Motors.
