DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Kashmir Solidarity Day was observed with zeal and enthusiasm in Dera Ismail Khan and Tank districts, where the district administration organised a series of events to express unwavering unity and solidarity with the people of Kashmir. The activities included peaceful walks, rallies and a one-minute silence to honour the sacrifices of the Kashmiri people.
Participants strongly condemned what they described as ongoing Indian atrocities in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir and reaffirmed full support for the Kashmiris’ right to self-determination.
In Dera Ismail Khan, a peaceful rally and walk were organised under the supervision of the district administration and led by Assistant Commissioner Syed Muhammad Arsalan. District officials, staff from various government departments, representatives of civil society, students and a large number of citizens took part.
The rally began at GPO Chowk and concluded at Topanwala Chowk. Participants carried banners and placards bearing slogans in support of the Kashmiri people and condemning Indian forces. The atmosphere resonated with chants such as “Kashmir Banega Pakistan,” “Kashmiris are our brothers,” and “Indian atrocities unacceptable.”
Addressing the gathering at the end of the walk, Assistant Commissioner Syed Muhammad Arsalan said the Indian government and its armed forces were committing serious human rights violations against innocent and unarmed Kashmiris. He said women, children and the elderly were being subjected to oppression, and described the silence of the international community as deeply regrettable.
Speaking to the media, he said the Pakistani nation stood shoulder to shoulder with its Kashmiri brothers and would continue to provide moral, political and diplomatic support at every level. He termed the Kashmiri freedom struggle legitimate and lawful, and expressed hope that Kashmir would soon achieve freedom. He also thanked the district administration, participants and law enforcement agencies for the successful organisation of the event.
Meanwhile, in Tank district, a simple but meaningful ceremony was held to mark Kashmir Solidarity Day. Additional Assistant Commissioner Malik Sajid, along with traffic police officials, observed a one-minute silence at a traffic point to pay tribute to the martyrs of Kashmir.
On the occasion, he said Kashmir Solidarity Day was observed every year on February 5 to demonstrate support for the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination and to highlight the human rights violations they continue to face. He said the sacrifices of the Kashmiri people would not go in vain and that Pakistan would keep raising its voice for them at every forum.
At the conclusion of the ceremonies, participants reiterated their commitment to continue supporting the Kashmiri cause and to observe Kashmir Solidarity Day each year with the same spirit and dedication.
