QUETTA: Security forces in Balochistan reported early successes from Operation Radd-ul-Fitna, as several notorious criminals and terrorists formally surrendered to authorities, marking a rare but significant step towards restoring stability in the province.
Among those who laid down their arms was Miraak Khan Chakarani, who, accompanied by 25 associates, handed over a substantial cache of weapons and ammunition. The group had long been linked to a series of violent crimes, including robberies, extortion, and other forms of organized criminal activity, which had contributed to insecurity in parts of the province.
Speaking at the handover, Chakarani announced that he and his followers would join the newly formed Chakarani Peace Force, pledging to work alongside law enforcement against extremist elements and criminal networks in Balochistan. Officials overseeing the operation described this as a positive development in what has been a sustained campaign to reclaim law and order in regions that had been deeply affected by militancy and violent crime.
Authorities noted that the operation, carried out in coordination with the provincial government and with leadership support from Chief Minister’s brother, Mir Aftab Bugti, had already begun to yield tangible results. Security officials expressed confidence that the surrender of Chakarani and his associates would serve as a catalyst, encouraging other criminal and extremist groups to follow suit in the coming weeks.
The operation’s early outcomes were seen as a reaffirmation of the state’s efforts to extend its control across Balochistan, reduce the influence of armed networks, and reassure communities long affected by insecurity that peace and stability could be restored through coordinated, sustained action.
