KHAIRPUR: Students and faculty at the Shah Abdul Latif University in Khairpur staged their first commerce and entrepreneurship fair this week, in what organizers described as a step towards embedding practical business skills in higher education.

The Commerce Entrepreneurship Mela 2026 was organized by the Institute of Commerce and Management and marked the first event of its kind in the institute’s history. It aimed to encourage entrepreneurial thinking and provide students with hands-on experience beyond the classroom.
The initiative was held under the guidance of the university’s vice chancellor, Prof Dr Yousif Khushk, who has sought to raise academic standards and expand opportunities for student development. The director of the institute, Prof Dr Akhtiar Ali Ghuo, oversaw the planning and implementation of the event.
The fair was coordinated by Dr Ghulam Akbar Khaskheli in collaboration with Dr Qamar Abbas Mangi and other faculty members. Organizers said careful planning and collective effort ensured the program ran smoothly. Students of commerce and management took the lead in setting up and managing stalls and activities, presenting business ideas and projects developed as part of their studies.
Their participation, staff members said, reflected a growing interest in entrepreneurship and innovation among young graduates. University officials described the mela as an important milestone and expressed hope that similar initiatives would continue to promote enterprise and practical learning across the campus.
