SUKKUR: Hundreds of candidates who have successfully passed the IBA Test 40+ and PST/JEST exams continued their peaceful protest across Sindh on Tuesday, marking the 238th consecutive day of demonstrations.
The protesters, comprising both men and women, are calling on the provincial government to issue appointment orders strictly on merit, citing thousands of existing vacancies exacerbated by retirements, promotions, and administrative delays.
Among the demonstrators were Ayaz Magsi, Amjad Thebo, Ata-ur-Rehman Sheikh, and Maroof Channa, who stressed that their demands were lawful and centered solely on ensuring that qualified candidates receive the positions they have earned. They said the prolonged delay in appointments not only affects individual livelihoods but also undermines the province’s administrative efficiency and long-term development.
Addressing political leadership directly, the candidates appealed to senior figures of the Pakistan Peoples Party, including Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, former Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah, Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, and Education Minister Sardar Shah. They urged immediate intervention to fill the pending posts and end the prolonged uncertainty that has left thousands of qualified professionals in limbo.
“Candidates are Sindh’s valuable asset; ignoring them is injustice to the province’s future,” the protesters said, calling for fairness, merit, and a swift resolution. They argued that timely appointments would strengthen the education system and other critical public services, while delays risked discouraging young talent and disrupting the province’s administrative capacity.
