HOUSTON: A severe winter storm sweeping across the northeastern United States has disrupted daily life and, for the first time in 153 years, stopped a historic newspaper from printing its daily edition. The storm brought record snowfall and strong winds, forcing airport closures and canceling thousands of flights.
Reports indicate that the fierce “nor’easter” dumped snow up to two to two-and-a-half feet in several states, paralyzing roads and public transportation. The Houston Globe, a newspaper with a 153-year history, was unable to produce its print edition as staff could not reach the printing press due to the extreme weather.
While the newspaper continued digital publication, the missed print edition symbolized the extraordinary impact of the storm and highlighted the scale of disruption it caused across the region.
