KARACHI: The Sindh Inspector General of Police, Javed Alam Odho, visited the central office of the Citizen-Police Liaison Committee (CPLC) in Karachi on 27 February, pledging enhanced coordination between the police and the CPLC to tackle crime effectively. He was welcomed by CPLC chief Zubair Habib and senior officials during the visit.

During the visit, the IGP reviewed ongoing operations, monitoring systems, and data analysis mechanisms, receiving a detailed briefing from CPLC staff. Habib highlighted the committee’s efforts in curbing kidnapping for ransom, car theft, snatching, street crime, and other serious offences. He also noted that street crime in Karachi had shown a consistent decline and praised police operations in riverine areas.
Odho emphasized that close coordination between the CPLC and Sindh police is central to a comprehensive crime-fighting strategy. He underlined the transition towards modern, faceless policing and noted that digitalisation is changing the nature of crime. The IGP stressed the importance of raising public awareness on combating white-collar crime and called for collective efforts to ensure the success of the Safe City project. He also highlighted the crucial role of modern technology and databases in safeguarding citizens’ lives and property.
