SUKKUR: Farhan Shah Rashdi, described by police as one of the region’s most wanted criminals, surrendered to authorities amid mounting pressure from the ongoing Nijat-e-Mehran operation launched on the directives of the Sindh government.
Rashdi, who is wanted in more than 40 serious criminal cases, had long been regarded by residents as a symbol of fear in Pirgoth and its surrounding areas. His surrender was seen by officials as a significant development in the broader crackdown against organised crime in the riverine belt.
Speaking on the matter, DIG Larkana/Sukkur Nasir Aftab and SSP Khairpur Dr Samiullah Soomro said the operation had sent an unequivocal message to dacoits operating in the Katcha region: surrender or face decisive action. They maintained that law enforcement agencies would not relent until the area was cleared of criminal elements who, for years, had exploited the difficult terrain to evade arrest.
