KARACHI: The Sindh inspector general of police, Javed Alam Odho, chaired a meeting to review the establishment of modern police infrastructure and the strengthening of operational capacity in the province’s riverine areas.
The meeting was held at the Central Police Office in Karachi. The additional IG operations, DIGs of headquarters, establishment, T&T and IT, and AIGs attended in person, while the DIGs of Larkana and Sukkur and district SSPs joined via video link.
Participants were given a detailed briefing on the overall performance of the ongoing operation “Nejat-e-Mehran” in the katcha areas. The DIGs of Larkana and Sukkur outlined proposals for the establishment of police bases, checkposts, watchtowers and other installations in various riverine locations.
Odho expressed satisfaction with the progress of the operation and said that, following its success, the Sindh government would begin development work in affected areas under a structured plan.
He said that alongside the operation, the police would focus on ensuring lasting security in the katcha belt. He directed that sites for new police installations should be proposed in view of regional needs, effective access to the population and other strategic requirements.
A police spokesperson said the aim was to consolidate gains made during the operation and improve long-term stability in the region.
