UPPER South Waziristan: Allegations of massive financial irregularities have emerged in the Upper South Waziristan Education Department, reportedly involving deductions from teachers’ salaries and development funds. Sources claim that millions of rupees are collected under the pretext of “deductions” into a specific account known as “Account Four,” from which funds are allegedly withdrawn and distributed among officials through collusion.
According to reports, some teachers face deductions ranging from Rs30,000 to Rs50,000 in a single day. Additional deductions are reportedly made from development projects and other funds, which are later transferred to the account and allegedly shared among responsible officials. These claims have not yet been officially confirmed.
Teachers speaking on condition of anonymity said such practices are harming school performance and putting honest educators under severe stress. Many government schools in the district reportedly still lack basic facilities, while official documents indicate development funds have been utilized.
Local residents and civic groups have demanded an immediate forensic audit of “Account Four” and all related accounts. They urged full transparency regarding funds collected under deductions and called for the identification and prosecution of responsible officials. Citizens emphasized that protecting teachers from undue pressure and illegal deductions is essential to prevent irreparable damage to the education system, which could directly affect students’ future.
