SUKKUR, Mar 6: Vice-Chancellor of Sukkur IBA University, Dr Asif Ahmed Sheikh, visited the Sukkur Press Club to explore ways of strengthening collaboration and providing professional development opportunities for local journalists. During the meeting with press club office-bearers and senior journalists, both sides agreed to sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) offering free certification courses for journalists and practical internships for media students.

Under the proposed MoU, Sukkur IBA University will cover costs for young journalists’ training, while students from the Department of Media Sciences will gain hands-on experience at the press club. Senior journalists and media experts will deliver guest lectures at the university to enhance students’ skills. The initiative also proposes extending educational opportunities to children of journalists through affiliated institutions.

Dr Sheikh praised the management of the press club, particularly Lala Asad Pathan, and highlighted its role in promoting responsible journalism. He toured the press club facilities and reaffirmed Sukkur IBA University’s commitment to ongoing cooperation. The visit was attended by senior officials, including Ghulam Abbas Ghora, PA to VC Miraj Mehr, and press club leaders Khalid Bambhan, Javed Jatoi, Kamran Sheikh, Ahqar Rizvi, Kashif Phulpoto, and other senior journalists.
