LAKKI MARWAT: Six suspected terrorists were killed during an intelligence-led operation conducted by the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) in the Lakki Marwat district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, officials confirmed. The operation took place in the Shagei area, where security forces exchanged fire with the terrorists in a tense and closely monitored encounter.
According to the CTD’s Bannu regional office, the operation lasted approximately 40 minutes. During that time, six terrorists were killed, while several of their accomplices managed to escape under the cover of the exchange. Authorities said efforts were ongoing to identify the deceased and verify their connections to terrorist networks in the region.
Security personnel recovered a significant cache of arms and explosives from the scene. Officials reported the seizure of four Kalashnikov rifles, two pistols, eight hand grenades, and a number of improvised explosive devices (IEDs). The haul highlighted the terrorists’ apparent preparedness for further attacks and underlined the continued threat posed by armed groups operating in the area.
The CTD described the operation as part of an ongoing campaign to disrupt and dismantle terrorist networks in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Analysts noted that such targeted actions were aimed not only at immediate security threats but also at weakening the logistical and operational capabilities of terrorists in border districts.
Officials emphasized that intelligence-based operations, carried out with precision and careful planning, remained central to counter-terrorism efforts in the province. The operation in Lakki Marwat reflected a broader strategy to maintain law and order and to prevent terrorist groups from regaining strength, sending a clear message that security forces were vigilant and committed to curbing violent extremism in the region.
