ABU DHABI: The United Arab Emirates has said it is ready to help secure the Strait of Hormuz under US leadership, as tensions in the region continue to rise. Adviser to the UAE president, Anwar Gargash, said protecting global energy supply routes is a shared international responsibility.
Meanwhile, Iran has asked India to return three oil tankers if Indian vessels are to pass through the Strait of Hormuz, after New Delhi reportedly seized the ships before the conflict began. Reports suggest 22 Indian vessels remain stranded in the strategic waterway.
In Karachi, the Iranian Consul General said the Strait of Hormuz remains open for Pakistani ships, adding that vessels carrying crude oil or gas can pass through after coordination with Iranian authorities. Tracking data also showed that the first Pakistani ship has reached Karachi, carrying around 80 million litres of crude oil.
The developments highlight the growing geopolitical strain around one of the world’s most critical oil routes, as countries navigate security, trade and diplomatic challenges.
