RIYADH: A Consultative Ministerial Meeting of Foreign Ministers from Arab and Islamic countries called on Iran to immediately halt its attacks on Gulf Cooperation Council nations, as well as Jordan, Azerbaijan, and Turkiye. The meeting, held in Riyadh, brought together foreign ministers from across the region to address escalating tensions and reaffirm shared commitments to peace and stability.
In a joint statement issued after the meeting, the ministers underlined the necessity of respecting international law, international humanitarian law, and the principles of good neighborliness. They said these steps were essential to de-escalate conflicts, restore security, and provide a framework for diplomatic solutions to ongoing crises.
The statement also highlighted support for Lebanon, reaffirming the importance of its security, stability, and territorial integrity. Delegates voiced concern over external interference and underscored the need for the country’s sovereignty to be fully respected.
The ministers additionally condemned Israel’s recent actions in Lebanon, describing them as aggressive and expansionist. They urged all parties in the region to resolve disputes through dialogue and diplomacy, rather than through force or unilateral measures.
Analysts said the meeting reflected a growing consensus among Arab and Islamic states to present a unified stance on regional conflicts. Observers noted that Riyadh’s role as host signaled Saudi Arabia’s intent to mediate and coordinate collective responses to rising tensions.
The ministers concluded the session by stressing the importance of multilateral engagement, open communication, and adherence to international norms. They called for ongoing cooperation among regional states to prevent further escalation and promote long-term peace, stability, and prosperity across the Middle East.
