TEHRAN: Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has delivered a stark warning to the United Kingdom during a telephone call with his British counterpart, stating that providing military bases to the United States would be considered participation in aggression. Iran cautioned that any country offering such support would be treated as a party to the ongoing war, with Iranian leadership declaring that any form of assistance will be regarded as direct involvement.
Araghchi reiterated that Iran has already warned that all enemy military bases could become targets, emphasizing that Tehran has so far exercised restraint and used only a fraction of its military power in the conflict that began February 28. In a statement on X, the foreign minister said Iran has thus far avoided escalating tensions and responded to the international community’s appeals, but cautioned that the current response represents only a small percentage of Iran’s capabilities.
He warned that if Iranian infrastructure is attacked again, the retaliation would be extremely severe, and addressing damage to civilian populations will be essential if the war is to be stopped. Araghchi stressed that every Iranian action is defensive in nature, and any additional attack or threat will be met with a forceful and comprehensive response, adding that restraint and constructive steps are the only guarantees for establishing peace in the region.
Meanwhile, CNN has reported that an F-35 stealth fighter jet made an emergency landing at a US base in the Middle East after coming under fire from Iran, while a B-52 bomber has returned to the United Kingdom. The developments underscore the widening regional crisis as American and allied forces continue operations against Iranian military installations and Iran retaliates against US and Israeli targets across the region.
