RAWALPINDI: Pakistan’s military leadership has reaffirmed its commitment to defending national sovereignty and eliminating threats to internal and external security, saying the armed forces remain fully prepared to counter terrorism and extremism.
In a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on the occasion of Pakistan Day, the military said the country continues to face challenges from terrorism but remains steadfast in coordination with law enforcement agencies to ensure national stability.
The statement highlighted the significance of March 23, 1940, describing it as a defining moment that led to the creation of Pakistan. It said the armed forces are committed to safeguarding the country’s borders and maintaining internal peace.
Top military leaders, including Chief of Defence Staff and Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf, and Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, congratulated the nation and praised its resilience.
The ISPR said Pakistan continues to uphold democratic principles and aims to strengthen state institutions while promoting peace and cooperation globally.
It also noted ongoing military operations against militant groups, including recent responses to cross-border attacks, and said Pakistan has temporarily paused an ongoing operation in view of Eid ul Fitr.
