TEHRAN: The Iranian military has rejected claims by US President Donald Trump that negotiations between Iran and the United States are underway.
A spokesperson for the Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters dismissed the assertion, saying Washington should not portray its “failures” as a diplomatic agreement. The spokesperson also questioned internal divisions within the US, suggesting it appeared as though it was “negotiating with itself.”
The Iranian military warned that as long as the idea of attacks against the Iranian nation persists, oil prices would not return to previous levels and the regional order would remain disrupted.
Meanwhile, a spokesperson for Iran’s senior joint military command said the United States was attempting to label its defeat as a deal, adding that American interests in the region could face serious consequences.
He stressed that regional stability depended on Iran’s military strength and said the US must recognise this reality. Until then, he added, energy prices would not stabilise.
The spokesperson further stated that Iran would not enter into any agreement under pressure, insisting that the country’s position had remained unchanged from the outset.
The response comes after Donald Trump said Washington was in contact with “the right people” in Iran and claimed Tehran was willing to commit to never developing nuclear weapons.
