JEDDAH: Pakistan’s Christian community in Jeddah celebrated Easter with enthusiasm at an event hosted at the newly inaugurated Pakistan consulate building, where Consul General Syed Mustafa Rabbani attended as chief guest.
Members of the Christian Welfare Community, led by chairman John Gulzar, welcomed guests to the ceremony, which was attended not only by the Christian community but also by other active members of the Pakistani diaspora.
Addressing the gathering, Rabbani said it was a pleasure to welcome participants to the consulate, describing the occasion as a celebration of hope, renewal, compassion and humanity. He said Easter held deep significance for the Christian community and reflected values of sacrifice, forgiveness and faith that resonated across religions and cultures.
He added that in Pakistan such principles were part of shared national values, where people of different faiths lived together with mutual respect and harmony. Extending greetings on behalf of the government and people of Pakistan, he conveyed best wishes to the Christian community in Saudi Arabia’s western province and around the world.
Rabbani said the event held added importance as it was the first community gathering hosted at the premises of the newly inaugurated consulate, marking both an Easter celebration and a renewed commitment to engage with the Pakistani community in Jeddah. He said the occasion reflected a spirit of unity and coexistence.
Chairman John Gulzar, in his remarks, welcomed guests and said the participation of community activists encouraged their efforts. Masoud Ahmad Puri and Sardar Waqas also addressed the ceremony.
Community activists were presented with bouquets, and the event concluded with a dinner. Several community members, including Ms Zainab, Ms Azka, Muhammad Arif, Khurshid Matial, Sardar Ashfaq, Chaudhry Muhammad Akram, Mian Rizwan, Sharif Zaman, Malik Abid and Ehsan Gujjar, attended the gathering.
