KARACHI: The Consulate-General of Japan in Karachi opened the Japanese Calendar Exhibition 2026 at the State Bank Museum & Art Gallery on Tuesday, offering visitors a glimpse into Japanese art, culture and design.

The two-day exhibition, held on 7 and 8 April, featured around 80 calendars provided by the Japan Calendar Publishers Cooperative Union, highlighting themes ranging from natural landscapes to contemporary design and cultural heritage.

Organisers said the calendars reflected Japan’s appreciation of time, seasons and harmony with nature, presenting them not merely as date-keeping tools but as forms of visual storytelling that combine functionality with artistic expression.
The exhibition also included traditional Hina dolls, known as Hina-ningyo, displayed to mark Hinamatsuri, an annual festival in Japan celebrated in March to pray for the health, happiness and prosperity of young girls.
The consulate said the event, organised in collaboration with the State Bank Museum and Art Gallery, aimed to promote cultural exchange and strengthen mutual understanding between Japan and Pakistan by providing an accessible cultural experience for the public.
