DADU: Kando Khan Laghari, a resident of village Haji Baharo in Johi, had staged a protest outside the Dadu Press Club against what he described as an influential land-grabbing group. He later addressed an emergency press conference, where he said he owned 15 acres and 26 ghuntas of land in Deh Patro No. 2, which had originally been in the name of his late father, Ahmed Khan Laghari. He stated that after his father’s death, the Assistant Commissioner Johi had transferred the land into his name.
He alleged that an influential group, including Mithal Laghari, Yaqoob Laghari, Muharram Laghari, Jamadar Sikandar Laghari, Shahan Laghari, Ghulam Nabi Laghari and others, had been illegally occupying his land for the past two years with the use of armed force. He further claimed that they had also been harvesting crops from the land.
He said that whenever he tried to visit his land, he had been threatened at gunpoint and warned that he would be killed if he entered the property.
He further stated that the Johi court had issued a stay order, clearly directing that no one was allowed to cultivate or interfere with the land, and that he possessed all relevant documents. Despite this, he alleged that the accused, due to their influence, had ignored court orders and repeatedly harvested crops from the land.
He added that he had approached the Pat Gul Muhammad police station with the court order and had complained about the illegal occupation and forced harvesting, but the police had remained silent spectators.
He demanded that the illegal occupation of his land be removed and that legal action be taken against those issuing death threats.
