SUKKUR: Women activists gathered at the grave of Shaheed Khalida, also known as Rubina Chandio, and took an oath to continue the struggle for women’s rights, according to reports.

The demonstration was held on Sunday near Tando Masti and was led by Amar Sindhu and Farzana Mallah of the Women Action Forum.
Protesting at the grave, the women vowed to raise their voices against injustice and violence faced by women and pledged to carry forward the fight for justice, dignity and protection of women’s rights in Sindh.

Participants called on the authorities to ensure accountability in cases of violence against women and to provide a safe environment for all.
Separately, the JWC held a protest demonstration at Mariam Chowk in Khairpur against the killings of Khalida alias Rubina Chandio in Tando Masti, Fahmida Leghari in Mirpurkhas, and Shumaila Chandio in Hala, demanding the immediate arrest of those responsible.
The protest was led by Shaukat Noonari, Sindh Bar Council member Syed Jaffar Ali Shah, Shaiasta Baloch and social activist Shehnaz Sheikh, among others, as demonstrators chanted slogans against the perpetrators.
Addressing the gathering, the speakers said girls in Sindh were being killed daily in the name of the practice known as “Karo-Kari”, which they condemned in the strongest terms. They said Khalida alias Rubina Chandio had been killed in Tando Masti following accusations of “Karhan”, describing the act as a violation of basic human values.
They said the killings of Fahmida Leghari in Mirpurkhas and Shumaila Chandio in Hala were further examples of extreme brutality, reflecting the continued vulnerability of women in the province.
The speakers alleged that some elements were using the pretext of Karo-Kari to carry out violence against women, spreading fear and insecurity in society.
The protesters urged Syed Murad Ali Shah, the inspector general of Sindh police and relevant human rights authorities to take immediate notice, arrest the accused and ensure strict punishment. They warned that if justice was not delivered, the movement would be intensified.
