DERA ISMAIL KHAN: A long-standing issue regarding the registration of Doctor of Veterinary Medicine students at the University of Agriculture, Dera Ismail Khan, with the Pakistan Veterinary Medical Council has been resolved, officials said.
According to details, students from the 2021–26 and 2022–27 sessions have now been formally registered by the Pakistan Veterinary Medical Council as Registered Veterinary Medical Students, bringing relief to those who had been awaiting registration for an extended period.
The development has been attributed to the efforts of Professor Dr Shakeeb Ullah, the current president of the Pakistan Veterinary Medical Council and former vice chancellor of the University of Agriculture, Dera Ismail Khan. Officials said his leadership and proactive role played a key part in addressing the issue.
The vice chancellor of the university, Dr Muhammad Latif Gondal, was also acknowledged for his guidance, timely decisions and coordination, which helped facilitate the resolution of the matter.
The university administration congratulated the faculty of veterinary and animal sciences, administrative staff and the affected DVM students, who were described as having shown patience and resilience during the prolonged delay.
It also noted the academic and emotional difficulties faced by students over recent years and expressed sympathy for their experience.
The university reaffirmed its commitment to resolving remaining academic issues related to the DVM programme and said it would continue efforts to improve the educational experience of its students.
