KARACHI: An urgent appeal was made to the chief minister of Sindh and the provincial health minister over alleged administrative negligence at the National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases.
The CT angiography machine at the institute had reportedly remained out of order for the past five weeks.
The machine was described as critical for heart patients, as it is used to detect blocked arteries and assess cardiac conditions in a timely manner.
Its breakdown had caused severe difficulties for thousands of patients, leading to delays in diagnosis and an added financial burden.
It was said to be the responsibility of the institution’s administration, particularly Professor Tahir Sagheer, to ensure urgent corrective measures. However, due to alleged administrative incompetence, poor supervision and lack of attention, the machine had not been restored, resulting in direct suffering for patients.
A strong appeal was made to the health minister and the chief minister to take immediate notice of the issue, initiate action against those responsible, and restore the CT angiography machine on an emergency basis so that patients could receive timely relief.
The statement added that negligence in public service institutions harmed not only patients but also undermined public trust in the government and the healthcare system, and called for immediate action.
