KHAIRPUR: The MPhil viva voce examination of Mrs Kanwal was held on 24 April 2026 at the office of the dean, Faculty of Physical Sciences, Shah Abdul Latif University, marking a significant milestone in her academic career and reflecting the university’s focus on research into pressing environmental issues.

The viva was chaired by Prof Dr Noor Ahmed Shaikh, dean of the faculty. Mrs Kanwal carried out her research under the supervision of Prof Dr Noor Hussain Chandio of the Department of Geography. Her study, titled “An Assessment of Sewage Water and Its Impacts on Groundwater Quality and Human Health: A Case Study of Taluka Larkana, Sindh, Pakistan”, examined concerns related to water pollution and its effects on local communities.
Prof Dr Sher Muhammad Malik, chairman of the Department of Geography at The Islamia University of Bahawalpur, attended as external examiner. He reviewed the thesis in detail and conducted a comprehensive examination, raising questions on methodology, data analysis and policy recommendations.
After detailed evaluation and discussion, Mrs Kanwal successfully defended her research. The examination committee appreciated the study’s relevance and quality, noting its contribution to understanding the effects of sewage water on groundwater and human health in the Larkana region.
The completion of the viva marked both a personal academic achievement and an indication of the university’s continued commitment to research addressing environmental challenges in Sindh and beyond.
