QUETTA: Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti said a woman who had been sitting with officials was allegedly on a suicide mission targeting Islamabad, as authorities foiled a major attack through intelligence-based operations.
Speaking at a press conference in Quetta, the chief minister said terrorist groups were increasingly exploiting women by trapping and coercing them into carrying out attacks.
He added that the woman had been assigned a target in Islamabad, but the plan was successfully thwarted by intelligence agencies.
He praised the role of intelligence institutions, saying they had saved the country from a major catastrophe.
Bugti said the rescued girl was being handed over to her father with dignity, adding that the government remained committed to promoting education for girls, while terrorists were pushing them towards violence.
The chief minister further said the girl had been threatened that her father would be killed if she refused to carry out the suicide attack.
He accused terrorist elements of exploiting young girls to please their “foreign handlers”.Bugti stressed that such actions had no connection with Baloch traditions, stating that Baloch women had never been part of such violence.
He said using young girls for militant purposes was against cultural and moral values.
