KARACHI: The protest by the Karachi University Teachers’ Association continues as faculty members press for the approval of their demands, including an increase in house ceiling rent and other service-related issues.
The ongoing protest has disrupted academic activities, leaving more than 40,000 students facing difficulties as classes and administrative work remain affected.
The association said the demonstration is being held to demand long-pending financial adjustments and improvements in service conditions. They maintained that their concerns have not been adequately addressed despite repeated discussions.
On the other hand, the university administration said it has already informed the teachers’ body about the current financial crisis facing the institution. It added that the Vice Chancellor has written to the Chief Secretary seeking a grant and a bailout package to resolve the situation.
Officials said efforts are underway to manage the financial shortfall, while dialogue with stakeholders continues in an attempt to reach a resolution and restore normal academic activities.
