KARACHI: The District South Police Women and Child Protection Cell on Tuesday organised an awareness workshop for women police officers and staff on the topic of protection from harassment at the workplace, according to a statement.
The workshop was held at the SSP office on May 12, 2026, under the directives of SSP District South Mehzoor Ali and instructions of Inspector General Sindh Javed Alam Odho. It aimed to ensure effective implementation of “The Protection Against Harassment of Women at the Workplace Act, 2010 (amended 2022)”.
The session was supervised by in-charge Women and Child Protection Cell Zakia Malik. A large number of women police officers and personnel from various police stations of District South participated in the workshop.
Participants were briefed in detail on laws related to protection from harassment at the workplace, complaint registration and reporting procedures, professional conduct, mutual respect and institutional discipline. Awareness pamphlets were also distributed among participants.
Speakers said a harassment-free and dignified environment was essential for the performance and reputation of any institution. They added that empowering women and ensuring a safe working environment remained a top priority of the Sindh Police.
It was emphasized that a zero-tolerance policy was in place against harassment and unprofessional behaviour, and that swift and transparent action would be taken in all such cases.
A spokesperson for District South Police said the force remained committed to protecting women, empowering them and ensuring a dignified environment so that women personnel could perform their duties without fear.
