TEHRAN: Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has accused the United Arab Emirates of being directly involved in actions against Iran, further escalating diplomatic tensions between the two regional actors.
According to Iran’s Mehr News Agency, Araghchi said in a statement that he had refrained from naming the UAE earlier out of solidarity, but claimed that the country failed to even condemn attacks on Iran when they began. He urged Abu Dhabi to reconsider its policy toward Tehran.
His remarks come in response to recent comments from UAE presidential adviser Anwar Gargash, who said the Emirates never sought war and had made sincere efforts to prevent escalation. Gargash also stressed the importance of political solutions and dialogue, stating that Gulf relations with Iran should not be based on confrontation.
Araghchi’s statement reflects ongoing friction between Tehran and Abu Dhabi, despite repeated calls from both sides for regional stability and diplomatic engagement. Analysts say such exchanges highlight the fragile nature of Gulf-Iran relations amid broader geopolitical tensions in the Middle East.
