The event was jointly organised by the district and sessions courts of Sukkur, Ghotki, Khairpur Mirs and Naushahro Feroze, along with other subordinate courts. It was attended by a large number of judges, lawyers and members of the legal fraternity.
Among those present were Justice Muhammad Abdul Rehman, Justice Abdul Hameed Bhurgri, Justice Muhammad Hassan Akbar, Justice Ali Haider Ada and retired Justice Ali Sain Dino Metlo. Senior judicial officers including District and Sessions Judges from Sukkur, Ghotki, Khairpur Mirs and Naushahro Feroze also attended, along with judges from accountability, banking, additional sessions, civil and family courts.
The ceremony was conducted by Additional Sessions Judge Javed Ali Mirani, while District and Sessions Judge Sukkur Allah Bachayo Gabol delivered the welcome address. He highlighted issues related to judicial infrastructure, court functioning and delays in case resolution.
He noted that construction of several court projects, including an additional sessions court in Pano Aqil, had remained pending since 2009. He also pointed to delays in proposed lower courts in Sukkur and the construction of court buildings and residences in Rohri, urging authorities to ensure timely completion and accountability for delays. He further stressed the need to increase promotions from the district judiciary to the High Court to encourage capable officers.
Justice Mahmood A. Khan said the concerns raised would be forwarded to the relevant authorities and expressed hope that improved use of video-link facilities would help lawyers appear before benches more efficiently and speed up pending cases.
District and Sessions Judge Ghotki Waseem Iqbal Chaudhry said guidance from High Court judges through their decisions and observations had strengthened the performance of subordinate judiciary.
At the end of the ceremony, traditional Sindhi Ajrak and caps were presented to the judges as a mark of respect for their services.
