KARACHI: The Special Investigation Unit (SIU) and Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) carried out a joint operation in Karachi’s Pakistan Bazaar area and arrested a key suspect linked to an inter-provincial narcotics network, officials said on 14 May 2026.
According to a statement from the police, the operation led to the arrest of Muhammad Arman, son of Muhammad Nizam, who was allegedly involved in a wider drug trafficking network operating across multiple provinces.
Police said 6.5 kilograms of high-quality heroin were recovered from the suspect’s possession during the raid.
Officials stated that the arrested suspect was associated with a notorious drug dealer, identified as Hikmat Gul, whose network allegedly smuggled large quantities of narcotics from Balochistan and other provinces into Karachi, where they were distributed in different areas of the city.
They added that the suspect had been attempting to supply heroin brought from Balochistan to various individuals in Karachi at the time of his arrest.
A case has been registered at the SIU police station, and further investigation is under way.
The SSP of SIU said that action against drug networks was continuing under a zero-tolerance policy.
A spokesperson for the SIU and CIA confirmed the details of the operation.
