QUETTA: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif said on Monday that “Operation Ghazab-ul-Haq” was continuing at full strength against terrorist groups, as he used a visit to the Command and Staff College in Quetta to underline Pakistan’s security priorities and broader strategic posture.
Addressing faculty members and student officers at the premier military training institution, the prime minister praised the professionalism, discipline and sacrifices of the armed forces, saying Pakistan remained firmly committed to defending its sovereignty and territorial integrity “at any cost”.
He said the state had maintained what he described as a responsible and restrained approach in the face of external provocations, while remaining fully prepared to respond to any threat. Without naming specific incidents, he referred to recent security challenges and said Pakistan’s response had been guided by caution, maturity and operational readiness.
Sharif also paid tribute to the military leadership, including Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, crediting the armed forces with what he termed “historic achievements” in countering terrorism and safeguarding national stability. He said the sacrifices of the country’s security personnel had ensured continued progress in difficult internal and regional conditions.
Reiterating Pakistan’s longstanding foreign policy positions, the prime minister reaffirmed political and diplomatic support for the people of Jammu and Kashmir as well as Palestine. He framed both as enduring issues of principle in Pakistan’s external policy, requiring continued international attention.
The visit was attended by federal ministers as well as the Chief Minister of Balochistan, while senior military officials received the prime minister upon his arrival at the institution. Officials present during the briefing said that counter-terrorism operations remained a central pillar of Pakistan’s internal security strategy, though no additional operational details were disclosed during the session.
The address came against the backdrop of an intensified security environment in parts of the country, with authorities continuing efforts to contain terrorist activity and strengthen coordination between civil and military institutions.
