KARACHI: Dr Pir Ghulam Nabi Shah Jilani was honored with a ‘Souvenir of Honor’ at the Energy and Environment Action Summit-2026 in recognition of his longstanding contributions to healthcare, social welfare and community development, as participants at the event highlighted the importance of collective action in addressing some of the country’s most pressing challenges.
The award was presented during a ceremony held at a local hotel in Karachi as part of the summit organized by the Global Business Council Karachi. The gathering brought together representatives from government institutions, the business community, civil society organisations and the healthcare sector to discuss issues related to sustainable development, environmental protection and public wellbeing.
Dr Jilani received the recognition for his extensive work in public service, particularly his role as a member of the Standing Committee on General Safety and Health of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry. He was also acknowledged for his efforts as a Rotary Club chairperson overseeing a range of public health initiatives aimed at improving access to healthcare services and raising awareness of community health concerns.

The Souvenir of Honour was jointly presented by Oman’s Consul General, Sami Abdullah AlKhanjari, and Sindh Chief Minister’s Adviser on Human Rights, Rana Rajvir Singh Sodha. Both dignitaries commended the importance of recognising individuals who had devoted their careers to serving communities and promoting public welfare.
A number of prominent figures attended the ceremony, including Muhammad Rafiq Laghari, Assistant Governor of Rotary International District 3271, and Wali Muhammad Lashari, president-elect of Rotary International Club Mirpurkhas. Representatives from various professional, social and business organisations were also present.
During discussions at the summit, speakers stressed that stronger cooperation between public institutions, private enterprises and social sector organisations was essential to tackling interconnected challenges involving energy, environmental sustainability, healthcare and social welfare. They argued that collaborative approaches would be critical to achieving long-term development goals and improving the quality of life for communities across the country.
The event concluded with tributes to Dr Jilani’s contributions to the healthcare sector and his decades of public service. Participants praised his commitment to community welfare, describing his work as an example of how sustained civic engagement could contribute to healthier and more resilient societies.
