TANDO JAM: The death of a 26-year-old man from Ibrahim Colony has raised questions after his family claimed they found signs of violence on his body despite being told he had died in a road accident.
According to relatives, the young man, identified as Sunny, son of Ayub, was reportedly involved in an accident near Nasarpur Road. Family members said they received information late at night that Sunny had been injured in an accident and was being taken to hospital for treatment.
When the family arrived at the hospital, doctors informed them that the young man had died from his injuries.
The body was later taken to his home for burial arrangements. However, relatives said they became suspicious after noticing marks on the body that they believed were inconsistent with a traffic accident.
According to the family, signs of apparent violence were discovered while the body was being prepared for burial. They subsequently questioned the circumstances surrounding the death and expressed concern that the incident may not have been an accident.
The deceased’s relatives said they wanted a thorough and transparent investigation to determine the exact cause of death. They urged police to register a case and examine all aspects of the incident so that it could be established whether the young man had died in an accident or had been the victim of a crime.
Family members said Sunny had been working as a helper on a rented vehicle for the past six months. They described him as a hardworking young man and said they wanted answers regarding the events leading up to his death.
Instead of proceeding with the burial, the family took the body back to hospital and requested a post-mortem examination to help clarify the circumstances surrounding the case.
Police officials said the matter would be investigated and that legal proceedings would be initiated. They said an incident report would be registered and inquiries would be carried out from every possible angle.
According to police, the findings of the investigation and the post-mortem examination would help determine whether the death resulted from a road accident or from any criminal act.
Officials assured the family that the case would be investigated fairly and that justice would be provided in accordance with the outcome of the inquiry.
