TANK: Two police officers were killed and two others injured when an improvised explosive device (IED) struck a police armoured personnel carrier (APC) during a routine patrol on the Tank–Wana Road in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Monday, police said.

The blast occurred near Masha Jan Bungalow in Garah Hayat village, within the jurisdiction of Shaheed Mureed Akbar Police Station, when a roadside bomb detonated as the police vehicle passed through the area.

The officers who lost their lives were identified as Assistant Sub-Inspector Fareedullah Khan, a resident of Malazai, and Constable Akhtar Zaman, a resident of Gul Imam, both from Tank district.
The injured officers, Constable Qudratullah and Constable Abdul Malik, were taken to the District Headquarters Hospital in Tank before being referred to DHQ Hospital Dera Ismail Khan for further treatment.
A heavy police contingent, the Bomb Disposal Unit and other law enforcement personnel reached the scene following the explosion.
