KARACHI: Sindh Inspector General of Police (IGP) Javed Alam Odho has assured Chinese citizens, experts and companies working in the province of comprehensive security measures, saying the protection of Chinese nationals and institutions remains a top priority.
The assurance was given during a meeting between the Sindh police chief and Acting Chinese Consul General Mr Feng Deheng at the Central Police Office in Karachi.
Senior police officials, including DIGs of Headquarters, Special Protection Unit (SPU) and Training, also attended the meeting. During the discussion, both sides reviewed matters of mutual interest, the overall security situation and police measures being taken across Sindh. Special focus was given to the security arrangements for Chinese citizens, technical experts and China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) projects in the province.
The acting Chinese consul general said Pakistan and China remained committed to cooperation in various sectors, including CPEC-related projects. He appreciated Sindh Police’s security arrangements for Chinese nationals and expressed confidence in the measures taken by the department.
He said Chinese business communities were interested in investing in Sindh, particularly Karachi, and welcomed the formation of a dedicated security force by Sindh Police for the protection of Chinese citizens. “The friendship between Pakistan and China is valuable and unmatched,” he said, adding that confidence in security arrangements would further strengthen bilateral cooperation.
IGP Javed Alam Odho briefed the Chinese diplomat on the enhanced security measures being implemented across the province. He said Sindh Police would continue taking all possible steps to provide Chinese citizens with a safe and peaceful environment. The police chief added that additional personnel would soon be deployed to the Special Protection Unit to further strengthen security for Chinese nationals. He reiterated that providing foolproof security to Chinese citizens and institutions based in Sindh was among the department’s highest priorities.
