KARACHI: The installation ceremony of Iqbal Tahir Arain as the new President of Rotary Club of Nexus was held at DHA Club Karachi on July 22, with senior Rotary officials and club members in attendance.
Rotary District 3271 Governor Shahzad Sabir attended the ceremony as the chief guest. The event was also attended by District Governor Elect Fahad Sikandar, District Governor Nominee Abdul Jabbar Sheikh, Assistant Governor Dr Durdana Arshad, Coordinator Waqar Sheikh, District Coordinator Atiqa Wali, Assistant Governor Shehnaz Ramzi and Rotaract Chair Roma Tabish.
A large number of members of Rotary Club of Nexus also participated in the ceremony, which began with the recitation of the Holy Quran followed by the national anthem. Prayers were offered for the late club member Roshan Afzal.
Addressing the gathering, General Secretary Muhammad Ali Haider welcomed Shahzad Sabir and congratulated him on assuming the role of District Governor. He expressed hope that Rotary District 3271 would achieve further progress under his leadership.
Haider shared updates about the club’s performance, saying membership had increased from 52 members on June 30 to 62 members, making the club one of the key contributors to the district.
He said the club was actively working on several community service initiatives, including the Out-of-School Children roadmap, education, healthcare, Urban Forest and conflict resolution projects. He also reaffirmed the club’s goal of becoming a 100 per cent donor club.
Newly installed President Iqbal Tahir Arain presented his plans for the upcoming year, saying existing Rotary projects would continue while new initiatives would also be introduced.
He declared the Out-of-School Children programme as the flagship project of Rotary Club of Nexus and appreciated Muhammad Ali Haider’s efforts in advancing the initiative.
President Iqbal said the club also aimed to work on the Alternate District Resolution project and establish a V-Disability Centre to support people with disabilities.
He expressed optimism that the coming year would bring greater achievements and meaningful community service for Rotary Club of Karachi Nexus.
The ceremony concluded with Aslam Khaliq thanking Governor Shahzad Sabir and all guests. On behalf of Rotary Club of Karachi Nexus, he reaffirmed the organisation’s commitment to continue arranging programmes focused on social welfare and community development.
