KARACHI: Pakistan’s fashion industry has the potential to become a stronger contributor to exports and employment, but requires greater government support to realise its full potential, leading designers and beauty professionals said at the closing ceremony of Style Runway Fashion Show Season 18.

Speaking to reporters at the event, held at Barzaan Banquet, fashion industry figures said Pakistan’s designers, jewellers and beauty professionals have gained increasing international recognition for their creativity, craftsmanship and professional standards.
Among those addressing the media were designer Saleem Iqbal of Anamta Bridal, Razib Tabani of Junoon, designer Noman Saleem, Ahsan Ali of Rehber Collection, Junaid Iqbal of Image Jewellery and Hameeda Hamza of Hameeda Salon.
The speakers said the country’s fashion, jewellery and beauty sectors have grown steadily in recent years, with Pakistani brands and professionals attracting growing demand in overseas markets.
They added that consumers are placing greater emphasis on quality clothing, fine jewellery and professional beauty services, making the industry an increasingly important part of Pakistan’s creative economy.
They described fashion shows as an important platform for designers to present new collections, connect with audiences and showcase local talent, noting that Pakistani fashion professionals continue to build their reputation internationally.
The participants called for stronger government policies and institutional support, arguing that the sector could generate significant export earnings while creating new jobs and business opportunities.
Zia Zafar, organiser and chief executive of the Style Runway Fashion Show, said the event has been held successfully for 18 consecutive years. He reaffirmed his commitment to promoting Pakistan’s fashion industry internationally and providing emerging talent with opportunities to gain global exposure.
