SUKKUR: The District Administration of Khairpur has announced a coordinated campaign to combat dengue and malaria across the district, emphasizing interdepartmental cooperation and proactive public health measures.

The decision was formalized during a high-level meeting held at the DC Office’s Sachal Sarmast Hall, chaired by Deputy Commissioner Fayaz Hussain Rahoojo. The meeting brought together senior officials including District Council Chairman Nadir Shoukat Rajpar, Additional Deputy Commissioner Iqbal Hussain Jindaan, Assistant Commissioners from all eight talukas, and key health experts such as Malaria Superintendent Maqbool Hussain Hakro.

Addressing the attendees, DC Rahoojo stressed the importance of collaboration among government departments to effectively control the spread of vector-borne diseases. District Council Chairman Rajpar pledged full support from local representatives, union councils, and town and municipal committees to ensure the campaign’s success.

The DC instructed Assistant Commissioners to coordinate closely with the Malaria Control Program and oversee fumigation drives, public awareness initiatives, and preventive measures at the local level. Superintendent Hakro highlighted the recent surge in dengue cases, primarily among patients arriving from Karachi and other cities, and provided a detailed briefing on ongoing efforts including fumigation, malaria screening, medicine distribution, mosquito net allocation, and isolation arrangements.

Officials resolved to conduct joint planning at taluka and union council levels, aiming for seamless implementation of preventive and curative measures. The campaign marks a concerted effort to protect public health and contain the spread of dengue and malaria throughout Khairpur district.
