KARACHI: Police have registered a murder case against an unidentified suspect following the killing of Dr Agha Muhammad Kashifuddin at his clinic in Gulshan-e-Maymar, with an alleged dispute over medical treatment emerging as a possible motive.
The case, registered on the complaint of the victim’s wife, Sundas Ahsan, at the Gulshan-e-Maymar police station, was filed under Section 302 of the Pakistan Penal Code as FIR No 536/2026.
In her statement, the complainant said her husband had been running Agha Medical Centre in Sector 2-X of Gulshan-e-Maymar for the past 20 years.
She said an unidentified man entered the clinic at around 9.10pm on November 6 and asked the doctor to confirm whether it was Dr Kashif’s clinic. After receiving an affirmative response, the suspect suddenly pulled out a gun and opened fire before fleeing.
The injured doctor was taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. He had sustained a bullet wound near his forehead.
Gulshan-e-Maymar Station House Officer Muhammad Ali Niazi said initial information suggested that the attacker had accused the doctor of providing improper treatment to his mother and sister before opening fire.
However, police said the alleged dispute had yet to be established as the motive for the killing and that investigators were examining all possible angles.
