ISLAMABAD: In a firm and deliberate tone, Pakistan’s military reaffirmed its resolve to stand united against external threats as Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, the director general of Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), declared that the Pakistan Army and the nation together would form a “solid wall” against any act of aggression. His remarks came amid a tense regional climate and reflected a renewed emphasis on unity and resilience in the face of mounting security challenges.
General Chaudhry made the statement during an interaction at the ISPR headquarters, where he addressed a gathering of students and faculty from a wide spectrum of institutions, including Abdul Wali Khan University, Women’s University, the University of Engineering and Technology, and several religious seminaries. The event was part of a series of outreach sessions designed to foster dialogue between the military and young citizens on national issues at a time when Pakistan continued to grapple with the dual strains of militancy and cross-border friction.
Speaking with measured precision, General Chaudhry underscored that the Pakistan Army’s strength derived from its people, insisting that national security was a shared responsibility. He spoke of what he described as the “Battle of Right,” framing the country’s struggle against extremism and terrorism as a moral and collective cause. His remarks, though grounded in military rhetoric, carried an unmistakable call for social unity, urging students to remain steadfast against divisive ideologies.
He outlined a range of ongoing military measures targeting militant groups, describing the operations as part of a broader strategy to dismantle networks he referred to as the “Khawarij”—a term historically associated with violent extremists. He stressed that Pakistan’s armed forces had maintained their focus on safeguarding the country’s frontiers, particularly amid recent hostilities and heightened tensions along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border.
The general’s words were both assertive and symbolic, delivered in an environment where national morale and regional stability remain intertwined. His speech carried the weight of reassurance, projecting confidence in the army’s readiness while reinforcing the message that Pakistan’s internal strength lay in its unity.
The session also served as a reminder of the human cost behind the military’s ongoing campaign. Students and teachers present at the gathering stood in solemn silence to honour fallen soldiers and martyrs, a tribute that lent the proceedings a deeply emotional undertone. The atmosphere, according to participants, was marked by quiet pride and mutual respect.
