RAWALPINDI: Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, delivered a firm warning to India over perceived “self deception,” stating that any future provocation would elicit a swift and robust response from Pakistan.
Speaking to officers of all three branches of the armed forces, Munir emphasized the importance of strengthening the country’s multi-domain operational capabilities under a unified command structure, reflecting the increasingly complex security environment in South Asia.
During his address, the field marshal described the establishment of the new Defence Forces Headquarters as a historic development, signaling a strategic shift in Pakistan’s defence posture. He said the creation of the headquarters would ensure closer coordination between the army, navy, and air force while allowing each service to maintain its distinct operational identity.
“With unity at the top, all three services will retain their internal autonomy and organizational structures,” he explained, framing the move as a balance between integration and institutional independence. Munir also took the opportunity to issue a pointed message to the Taliban administration in Kabul. He reiterated that Pakistan had made it clear to the group that it faced a choice: either to cease supporting anti-state militant elements, whom he described as Khawarij, or risk destabilizing relations with Pakistan.
“Pakistan is a peace-loving nation,” he said, “but no one will be allowed to undermine our sovereignty, territorial integrity, or resolve.” The field marshal’s remarks appeared to underline Pakistan’s insistence that Afghan soil should not be used for cross-border attacks, highlighting ongoing concerns about security along the border and the region’s fragile stability.
Throughout his speech, Munir stressed that Pakistan’s security and resilience were safeguarded not only by the professional capability of its armed forces but also by the unity and resolve of the nation. He portrayed a vision of a modern, integrated military capable of responding decisively to both traditional and emerging threats, including cyber, space, and multi-domain operations, while maintaining the confidence of the Pakistani people.
Observers noted that Munir’s statements reflected a broader strategic posture of deterrence and preparedness, reinforcing Pakistan’s commitment to defending its territorial integrity and maintaining stability in an increasingly tense regional environment.
