KARACHI: Sindh police marked a strong presence at the Indus Valley Cultural Family Festival, held from 12 to 14 December at Frere Hall in Karachi, by setting up a comprehensive public awareness and facilitation stall aimed at strengthening community ties and highlighting modern policing initiatives.
The stall brought together several key units of Sindh police, including the Special Security Unit, Police Facilitation Centers, the emergency helpline 15 (Madadgar-15), the police IT department’s “Talaash” application, traffic police and the forensic department.

Officers from these units briefed citizens on emergency response mechanisms, public service facilities, digital policing tools, forensic support and traffic management systems. The initiative was designed to familiarize the public with technology-based services and the citizen-friendly approach of Sindh police, promoting trust, awareness and cooperation between the police and the community in an open and accessible environment.
During the festival, the Sindh police stall was visited by the inspector general of police, Ghulam Nabi Memon, additional IGP Karachi Javed Alam Odho, and DIG Security Dr Maqsood Ahmed. They reviewed the arrangements, interacted with officers and members of the public, and praised the participating units for their effective representation of Sindh police at the major cultural event.

The chairperson of the Sindh Assembly’s standing committee on home affairs, Faryal Talpur, also visited the stall and received a detailed briefing on the services and initiatives on display. The Indus Valley Cultural Family Festival attracted citizens, young people and culture enthusiasts, featuring live music performances, recreational activities, food stalls and art exhibitions.
